Guitar Lessons Policies & Payments

Note to Parents and/or students

I want all my students to succeed. A quiet place to practice and a consistent regularly scheduled practice time each day is preferred. Younger children will most likely need your help and you are required to sit in on the lesson in case they have any questions. My studio is an open concept and I encourage all parents to sit in on the lessons. 

Student Material

Students will be provided with material during the lesson so they can practice at home. If you are taking ZOOM video lessons you will be provided with a link to your own personal folder via Google drive so you can access all the material that was created during the lesson.

If you stop taking lessons the files will be deleted after 3 months. You may download them if needed.

 

Studio Schedule

My lessons are provided year-round. Students progress faster when they have regularly scheduled lessons. When students take a break from lessons it may take time to re-familiarize themselves again with the instrument. They may lose some or most of the progress they have accomplished with the previous lessons, especially if they don’t practice much during the break.  

 

Holidays/School Breaks

Statutory holidays will be skipped. Every year there are 2 weeks of vacation time and a 2 week Christmas break with dates TBA.  Sometimes students will have lessons on a day when there is no school.

Payments

When Paying via e-transfer, cheque or cash:
All monthly lesson fees are due on the
first lesson of the month.  If payment is not made your lesson time can be opened for other students. Your weekly time slot is only guaranteed if payment is made.

Payments can be made via e-transfer, cheque or cash. E-transfer should be sent to billy@guitarinstructor.ca and marked in the memo with the student name and month that is being paid. Cheque should also have the memo with the student name and month that is being paid.

 

When Paying online via Paypal

Drop-in lesson fees are due before the lesson time. No exceptions.

If you are enrolled into a monthly subscription you will be billed once a month on your due date until you cancel or stop having lessons.

 

Cancellations

Cancellation of a lesson must be made AT LEAST 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson time in order to receive a make-up lesson.

No shows or failure to notify within 24 hours is considered a forfeited lesson.

In order to keep your weekly spot only 1 cancellation per  2 months is allowed. I will allow exceptions within reason. If too many cancellations occur, you will be notified and I may open the time slot up for another student.

If you know of dates ahead of time where you/your child cannot make a lesson, please notify me when booking/paying for your lessons. 

There are NO refunds on unused or cancelled lessons. Should you decide to stop taking lessons altogether, please give me 2 lessons notice or as much as possible so I can fill the time slot.


Missed Lessons

Your lesson time is reserved for you each week and it is your responsibility to attend. Dance classes and sports teams do not offer reimbursements if you cannot attend a rehearsal or game – music lessons are no different.

 

Makeup lessons

Any lessons cancelled at least 24 hours ahead of the scheduled lesson will receive a make-up lesson at a time convenient to both the teacher and the student. If no suitable time can be scheduled the lesson will be pushed to the next week. 

 

Illnesses

Students who are ill SHOULD NOT attend lessons. Instead, your lesson will be provided to you via video ZOOM. Text asap to notify the studio.

***IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY HEALTH SITUATION*** All lessons will continue at their regularly scheduled times via ZOOM guitar lessons. 

 

Teacher Cancellations

Occasionally I must travel out of the city for theatre gigs or other engagements. You will be notified ahead of time on what weeks I will be away. Those lessons will be rescheduled or skipped.   All payments will be pushed forward to compensate for the missed lesson(s).
